We fell hard for this midweight cotton in a variety of sophisticated, muted shades. The dimension of the textured weave gives a solid dose of character. With a crisp hand, it’s a lovely all-purpose workhorse, suitable for a wide variety of garments like dresses, pants, skirts, tops and jumpsuits. Fully opaque, no lining is needed for this fabric (you may want to use a lining for ivory depending on the garment).

Care Instructions

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. You can add half a cup to one cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle to help set the colours and minimize bleeding. It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road.

Fabric Tips

You can use a hot iron when pressing cotton. You can use sharp point universal needles to sew your projects. We recommend starting your project with a brand new needle.

Great multipurpose fabric

I wanted drapey curtains that were not sheer, felt great to the touch, and not break the bank as I needed around 12 yds total. I am really happy with how they turned out. The room is not dark during the day with the curtains shut but my corner lot bedroom with big windows has privacy now. I have 1.5 yd extra and am trying to decide between a simple knee length skirt or a woven tank for summer.

I bought a few yards of this to make a Paper Theory Olya shirt, and it worked beautifully! It has a nice crisp drape, takes a press really well, and has a relaxed-looking finish. I'd totally buy this again, and appreciate that there's lots of colours to choose from!

Honey mustard mitchell trousers

This is the perfect cotton, not too heavy and not too light. Quilted vest was so good that I ordered more for trousers.

Michelle Nowlan

The colour is so rich and exactly as pictured. I’m truly looking forward to making the Mitchel trouser and will post on IG hashtaging Core Fabrics.
