TRY IT WITH:

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

We suggest washing once to remove as much shrinkage before sewing. Machine wash in cool water on the delicate cycle using laundry detergent. Line dry your fabric and use an iron on medium setting. Do not use chlorine bleach and do not tumble dry to avoid damaging your precious garment.

Beautiful, high-quality fabric

This double-sided jacquard is not only beautiful to behold, it is a very nice quality. It launders well and holds its shape. I made two attractive tote bags from this fabric. But my favorite is a lovely fall jacket. It is a perfect weight for a chilly day or evening. It is soft and has a bit of drape after being washed and dried in the dryer. It's very soft and comfortable while still holding it's shape. And it's gorgeous! I modified the Tremont jacket pattern from Sewing Workshop so that both fronts are symmetrical.

Dreams come true

This fabric hits at the heart of it! After watching Heather Lou chat about the lovely idea of quilt coats, and having been entertaining the idea for the past couple of years, but sharing her hesitation to create one from cutting up handmade quilts for wearable art, I jumped at the chance to purchase this fabric. I had actually had my hand on a 'cutter quilt' in an antique shop in western Washington state, when I went home and saw her post. Hallelujah! Her words might have been my own. I have not yet cut into this beautiful fabric and while I am excited to do so, her skills are not mine - yet!
Here's to my sewing adventure in 2022, Sew over 60 but still a novice, Judi G.
