Deadstock
Textiles Made From Natural Fibres
In the fashion industry, deadstock refers to fabrics that are either surplus or left over from production, including high-quality designer textiles. By sourcing deadstock fabrics, we are giving them a new lease on life and keeping them out of landfills.
Deadstock Denim Shirting - Indigo
Nothing beats a timeless denim shirting, and this lovely lightweight denim deadstock is a classic example. Featuring a traditional diagonal twill weave and soft hand and drape, it will only get better with wear and love (we suggest washing yardage a few times in vinegar to reduce dye transfer). In a transitional weight, this denim will work for a wide variety of projects, from lightweight jackets and loose-fitting pants to classic buttondown shirts, shirtdresses, structured dresses and jumpsuits. Fully opaque, it does not require a lining.
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.
It’s important to wash and dry denim to remove any potential shrinkage down the road. Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium. To preserve the intensity of dye and recovery in stretch denim, it’s best to wash your finished jeans in cool water and hang to dry. Use a hot iron when pressing.
