This particular fabric is Oeko-Tex STeP certified, meaning its production has been vetted for chemical management, environmental performance, environmental management, social responsibility, quality management, and workplace health and safety. It is also Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, meaning it was produced without the use of harmful dyes, finishes, or chemicals.
Graphic Swan Cotton Jacquard - Black + White
There's something for everyone in this cotton jacquard, which features a charming banded pattern complete with flowers, birds (we like to think it's a swan), and other geometric motifs. It's Oeko-Tex STeP certified and comes from our favourite French heritage mill. Soft enough to wear unlined and with a structured drape, this midweight jacquard really bats it out of the park. We see it for sturdy staples like jackets, coats, shackets, structured trousers, and even homegoods like pillows. Fully opaque, it doesn't require a lining.
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.
We suggest washing once to remove as much shrinkage before sewing. Machine wash in cool water on the delicate cycle using laundry detergent. Line dry your fabric and use an iron on medium setting. Do not use chlorine bleach and do not tumble dry to avoid damaging your precious garment.
