Large Scale Yarn-Dyed Gingham Cotton - Matcha + White
Breathing new life into a classic pattern's a bit of a tall order, but we think this lovely medium weight yarn-dyed gingham cotton fits the bill. Its sophisticatedly muted tones bring a little haute couture to gingham's loud checks, making it a bit more "stroll along the Riviera" than "tablecloth at the cafe on the Riviera." Capiche?
Made with Oeko-Tex 100 certified and BCI cotton, it's a textile you can feel genuinely good about wearing. It's also a delight to touch: softly textured, it makes a perfect shirting option. It's crisp as heck off the roll, just north of midweight in order to keep it nice and opaque, and absolutely perfect for anything light and structured. Fully opaque, it does not require a lining.
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.
It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road. Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot. More delicate cottons like voile, double gauze or embroidered cottons should be washed by hand or on the delicate cycle. Use a hot iron when pressing.
