Always pre-wash and/or pretreat fabric before sewing! It’s important to remove any chemical sizing applied during manufacturing, both so it’s safe to handle against delicate skin, and to avoid any residue that may accumulate on your iron. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric, since fabric often feels more crisp and stiff before it’s been washed. As a general rule, we recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road.

Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot. More delicate cottons like voile, double gauze or embroidered cottons should be washed by hand or on the delicate cycle. Use a hot iron when pressing.

Wonderful fabric

I am using this canvas to make a parka, Jalie 2008. It washed beautifully and is easy to work with. A great purchase when you want something substantial that will take lots of wear. On top of that the service was great and the fabric arrived beautifully wrapped.

A dream to work with

This fabric washed well and was easy to iron. It cut cleanly and sewed nicely. It falls perfectly for the Edwardian skirt I made. Very happy. Quality fabric. Bonus. Each cut in my order came beautifully labelled. Great for keeping track of fibre content and amount of fabric used. Arrived promptly

Gorgeous fabric

I ordered this lovely organic canvas to make a Kelly Anorak. I haven't yet cut into it, but it looks and feels beautiful and I can't wait to get started. It's nice to have extra wide fabric too!
