Fairly and Sustainably Produced in the USA
This low-carbon footprint and pesticide-free textile is produced entirely within the USA. Our family-owned supplier sources organic cotton that is grown and ginned by the Texas Organic Growers Coop. The ginned cotton is then spun, knit and dyed within a 150 mile radius of their Asheville, North Carolina headquarters. The dying process uses fibre reactive dyes in a closed-loop system where the water is perpetually recycled. We’re thrilled to offer a textile that meets the highest quality and sustainability standards, while also supporting the domestic textile industry.
Organic Cotton Striped Baby Rib Knit - Carmine + Cream
Calling all stripe lovers! This midweight baby rib knit is oh so soft and features a beautiful cream and carmine stripe. From farmer’s field to finished fabric, this fabric was grown, woven and dyed entirely within the USA. Made from 100% organic long-staple cotton, it is combed and ringspun to produce an incredibly soft and luxurious knit that is easy to sew with and a dream to wear. This naturally stretchy and resilient baby rib has 70% stretch on the cross grain and 10% stretch on the length grain and a substantial midweight feel. Use it for a variety of breathable knit garments, from ultra-soft T-shirts and dresses to bodysuits, baby clothes and lightweight joggers and sweats. It also makes an easy cuff and neckband for sweatshirts and T-shirts!
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.
It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road; however, cotton stretch blends may shrink excessively when exposed to high heat. Machine wash in cool water and tumble dry on low. Use a medium iron with a pressing cloth.
