Jacquards are a unique kind of textile where the pattern is woven directly into the fabric, rather than printed or embroidered. The end result can be magnificent, as you can see with this gorgeous cream jacquard featuring a bold blue and ochre geometric stripe running along the cross grain. Best of all is the all-over quilted topstitching motif, which gives the illusion of an actual quilt. With a moderately crisp drape, this midweight cotton blend has a lovely surface texture and is destined to become a striking, stop-them-in-their-tracks garment. We suggest this gorgeous jacquard for outerwear and coats, in addition to structured pants, dresses and skirts. You may also want to use it as the top layer in a cozy quilted jacket.

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

We suggest washing once to remove as much shrinkage before sewing. Machine wash in cool water on the delicate cycle using laundry detergent. Line dry your fabric and use an iron on medium setting. Do not use chlorine bleach and do not tumble dry to avoid damaging your precious garment.

Loved this fabric

I'm never sure that I'll get what I think I've ordered as photos online don't always accurately represent the fabric they depict. However, this jacquard came exactly as depicted, and was a great choice for placemats. The recipients of the placemats were really happy!
