Did you know that classical Grecian sculptures were often painted in bright primary colours? Their timeworn versions are more what comes to mind when considering these works, and are the subject of this one-of-kind 100% BCI cotton print. Featuring motifs of Greek marble faces, columns, and laurel leaves, this print blends whimsy with the wonders of ancient Greece. With a smooth hand and moderate drape, this lightweight beauty is naturally breathable and is an absolute joy to sew and wear. We see this fabric transformed into dramatic palazzo pants, a comfortable everyday blouse, button-down shirt or a versatile maxi dress. Semi-translucent, it does not require a lining unless full opacity is required.

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road. Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot. More delicate cottons like voile, double gauze or embroidered cottons should be washed by hand or on the delicate cycle. Use a hot iron when pressing.

Beautiful Silky Cotton in a French-inspired Print

This fabric is dreamy - the print itself as well as the easy to sew silky cotton hand. I made the plain Saxa shirt and it was one of the easiest fabrics to work with. The print transports me to Paris or Versailles. I would absolutely love more of this voille in other prints!
