So its production is far gentler on the environment than other forms of Rayon. It is also fully biodegradable and is renowned for its durability and exceptional softness (it feels twice as soft as cotton).

Looking for a showstopping, drapey knit? This Tencel™ modal knit has a petite 2mm rib texture and a gorgeous, subtle sheen - an incredibly soft and silky hand seals the deal. It's the sort of fabric we want to drape ourselves in from head to toe. Midweight with a gentle, fluid drape, it's breathable and naturally durable. Featuring a four-way stretch and a pinch of spandex for excellent recovery, this modal is truly unlike any other we've seen. Transform it into a close-fitting turtleneck base layer, an eye-catching jumpsuit, a slinky evening dress, comfy underwear, or a sweet boatneck t-shirt. Fully opaque, it does not require a lining.
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.
Tencel has a tendency to shrink quite a bit, so we suggest washing at least once to remove as much shrinkage before sewing. Wash in cool water on the delicate cycle, and line dry or tumble dry on low. Finished garments should be hand washed with cool water to ensure minimal shrinkage. Use a medium iron when pressing.
