Awesome pattern - Not just for denim!

I had been eyeing a pair of RTW red linen jeans, but couldn’t get my head around the $300+ price tag so I decided to make my own. I used the Morgan pattern along with some red linen from the CoreFabrics site, and the result if just perfect. I have sewn many zip flys but never a button fly - the instructions for the pattern were great and just to be safe I also purchased the jeans making class, which had a handful of really helpful hints not found in the instructions so I felt it was a worthwhile addition. I will definitely be making this pattern many more times come fall - they would look awesome in corduroy or velvet. This was a totally painless and immensely satisfying first attempt at “jeans.”

Morgan Jeans

Really enjoyed making these Jeans. I followed the Jeans Making lesson at the same time and for something I thought would be complex, they came together really fairly easily. Its the best thing I have made to date. They look great. Looking forward to making a second pair.

Many Many Stars!

I've made my own jeans many times over the decades. Despite using nice fabrics, getting nice fits, I just never wore them...they somehow just didn't feel like RTW jeans. I gave up for around 10 years, then came across Morgan and decided to try again. My oh my....I really love this pattern. It's the first pattern I didn't have to fuss with. No grading even. I added 3" to inseam, and added 2 additional belt loops....that's it! I did the button fly on my first test pair, it came out perfect. This pair uses a zipper fly (see the Ginger Jeans Sew Along for how to convert). I used VERY rigid denim from Pacific Blue Denims. This is not beginner fabric...it has to be dominated and tamed! But these jeans feel like a $1000 pair of jeans. Perfectly tailored rigid denim feels like a hug! This could be my "most proud" make...and I've made a LOT of stuff! I'd like to see a Morgan Bootleg option...but I'll work it out on my own. Oh...one more thing! Absolutely read, practice the "Alternate Waistband" on the Ginger Jeans Sew Along....I've struggled with getting a clean waistband turn forever....no more!!!
