Pietra Pants & Shorts Pattern

This was my first Closet Core pattern and I am very happy with it. The instructions are clear, the pattern goes together easily and there is a lot of help available with fitting if you need it. I would definitely recommend this pattern and I look forward to trying others that they create.

So far, I have made only a muslin. Pattern lends itself nicely to French seams, my preferred seam finishing method. Fit is good and flattering, back is not baggy (I am plus sized). However, I will have to shorten the front crotch length considerably (as in all pant patterns) and do not know yet how to proceed. Taking out a wedge at the marked position does not work for me, because it results in forward slanting side seams. I will try and chop it off from the waistline, even if the pattern pieces get a strangely wavy waistline shape.
By the way - I made a knee length muslin of view A, it would work perfectly as Bermuda shorts.

I was really stoked to make these shorts and carefully measured my hips and true waist to get the correct size. The pattern specs said I’d be a 12 which seemed weird (and I measured again and checked again as I’m normally more a 6-8) but I went ahead and trusted the process. I finished the shorts last week and sure enough they’re too big. I’ll get back around to resizing at some point but with no confidence in the size chart I’m hesitant. 😕

Great instructions and sophisticated pant. The back electric with the flat front it both flattering and comfortable. No tight or binding waist! I was able to make both the pants in wide leg and some shorts in a charcoal linen in a heavier weave than most from Blackbird. I’ll be making these in various fabrics as it now as a place in my small “ perfect pattern for me” list. Well done Closet Core!
