Our exclusive collection offers woven fabrics online that embody high quality and timeless style, whether you’re an experienced maker or just starting your sewing journey, our selection is curated to support every stage of your creative process. We are committed to transparency, ensuring that every piece empowers your vision and supports your conscious sewing journey. At Core Fabrics, our inventory is innovative and frequently updated, ensuring that you always find fresh inspiration.

Our Curated Selection of Woven Fabrics

The stable nature of these fabrics, formed by weaving two sets of threads at right angles, offers a different structure compared to a knit fabric. This stability makes woven fabrics ideal for tailored garments, structured dresses and more. We make it easy to shop for your next textile online.

Natural Fibres: Linen, Organic Cotton, and More

Our selection includes some of the most sought-after materials used for clothing. You'll find a rich variety of fabrics:

  • Linen: Offers breathable comfort and a beautiful, classic drape.
  • Organic Cotton: Known for its luxurious texture, this fibre is both soft and durable, making it the perfect staple for everyday wear. When you sew with our linen or organic cotton, you’re choosing materials that are easy to cut, press, and stitch, which is perfect for makers of all skill levels.

Common Types of Weaves

Woven fabrics are also distinguished by their weave construction, which affects texture, structure, and application:

  • Plain weave: Used in poplin, broadcloth, and toile, this basic criss-cross pattern creates smooth, sturdy fabrics ideal for shirts, dresses, and linings.
  • Twill: Features diagonal lines—like denim and herringbone—resulting in robust, flexible fabrics often used for jackets, pants, and jeans.
  • Jacquard: Patterns are woven in, such as brocade and matelassé, delivering decorative complexity and texture.
  • Other weaves carried include basket weave, pile weave, and dobby weave, each suited for diverse apparel and home projects.

Understanding weave types empowers sewists to select the perfect fabric for every handmade project, whether it’s for sharp pleats or a fluid drape.

Stretchy Woven Fabrics for Sewing Comfort

For comfort and tailored silhouettes, explore our selection of stretchy fabrics. These fabrics provide ease of movement while maintaining the crisp shape of a woven textile.

Interfacing for Structured Garments

We also carry high-quality interfacing woven materials, which is a notion used to give collars, waistbands, and other garment areas professional shape and stability. Find our interfacing materials alongside our fabrics to complete your sewing needs.

Ethical and Transparent Sourcing

Transparency is a core value in our process. We are deeply committed to offering only sustainable and ethical garment fabrics. When you shop with us, you are choosing a transparent supply chain for your wardrobe. We ensure that every piece of material supports an environmentally responsible manufacturing process.

Exclusivity with Deadstock Designer Fabrics

We frequently feature exclusive, ephemeral collections of fabrics sourced directly from designer overstock. Our designer deadstock fabric collections can't be re-ordered once they sell out. This makes the finished woven garments truly unique. Our frequently updated inventory offers fashion-interested customers inspiration and exclusivity.

Uncompromising Quality and Inspiration

Quality is paramount at Core Fabrics. We focus on the enduring value of our textiles. Every yard of fabric is premium and chosen for its luxurious touch and reliable construction. We want you to feel inspired and confident as you create your custom apparel. We insist on trust and exceptional craftsmanship in everything we sell.

Frequently Asked Questions About Woven Fabric Clothing

Do you offer patterns that complement your woven fabrics?

We offer a curated selection of patterns for dresses, pants, shorts, and shirts, specifically designed to pair perfectly with our woven materials. This makes it easy to create a complete look.

Do woven fabrics stretch?

Generally, woven fabrics do not stretch unless they are blended with elastic fibres such as spandex or Lycra. They can have a slight natural stretch when pulled diagonally (on the bias). If you need a more flexible woven material, look for the stretch woven fabrics in our collection.

Will woven fabrics fray, and how do I prevent it?

Cutting a woven fabric will cause the threads to unravel or fray at the edges. To prevent this on your finished garments, you must finish the raw edges of the seams. Common methods include using a serger (overlocker), a zigzag stitch, or professional techniques such as French seams or applying seam binding.
