This fabric was locally sourced from Québec indie designer Meemoza, a brand we"re proud to share values with. Founded by Emilie Rioux in 2011, Meemoza is built on a commitment to eco-friendly materials, ethical production, and thoughtful small-scale manufacturing that prioritises quality over quantity.
Wash
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. You can add half a cup to one cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle to help set the colours and minimize bleeding.
Long-Term Care
Saturated shades have a tendency to bleed a bit on the first wash, so we recommend washing them separately in cool water on the delicate cycle. Line dry or tumble dry on low and remove the fabric while slightly damp, and iron it dry. Finished garments should be hand washed with cool water to ensure colourfast and minimal shrinkage.
Fabric Tips
Modal tends to be a bit shifty so use an extra sharp pair of shears or rotary cutter and pattern weights to cut your fabric. Use a medium iron when pressing.
