An essential tool in any sewist's arsenal, bias tape is used to finish the raw edges of armscyes, facings, neck openings, hems, and the raw edges of quilted jackets and blankets. Save yourself the aggravation of making your own and snag a few yards of our dreamy custom-made pre-shrunk 3/8" (10mm) double-fold bias tape! Made from our Core Collection Lightweight Silky Cotton Poplin in colours to match, this Oeko-Tex and BCI-certified 100% cotton poplin has a slightly silky hand - so much more luxurious than the crummy poly blends you'll find at your typical big box store. This particular bias tape is double-fold, meaning it's perfect for effortlessly sandwiching around raw seams and edges with the centre crease intact. Sold by the yard at 3/8" (10mm) wide, it's ideal for garments where you want a narrower final width. If you're looking for a beefier edge, try our 1/2" (13mm) double fold tape!

This bias tape is proudly cut, pressed, and produced locally for us here in Montreal, so you won't find our lovely bias tape anywhere else!

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. You can add half a cup to one cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle to help set the colours and minimize bleeding. It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road.

Long-Term Care

Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot.

Fabric Tips

You can use a hot iron when pressing cotton. You can use sharp point universal needles to sew your projects. We recommend starting your project with a brand new needle.
