Japanese cotton–TENCEL™ striped shirting in black + white. Soft, breathable, yarn-dyed with a gentle drape—perfect for shirts, PJs, and dresses.

This Japanese-made striped shirting is one of those fabrics that feels good the moment you touch it: soft, smooth, and instantly familiar, with that coveted “lived-in” feel. Woven in a classic plain weave with 1 cm-wide black and white yarn-dyed stripes, it strikes the perfect balance between structure and ease. The cotton–TENCEL™ blend gives this fabric a medium, fluid drape with excellent breathability and a beautifully soft hand. We love this fabric for button-up shirts, relaxed shirtdresses, comfortable pajamas, and elevated loungewear, timeless pieces you’ll reach for again and again. Fully opaque, a lining is not required.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

Long-Term Care

It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road. Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot. More delicate cottons like voile, double gauze or embroidered cottons should be washed by hand or on the delicate cycle.

Orders outside of Canada are subject to customs and duties and are the sole responsibility of the customer. Any applicable Duties and Tariffs are collected at checkout and packages are shipped DDP (Delivery Duty Paid)
