Dreamy results from a perfect pattern

I’ve come to expect a level of excellence from Closet Core, and Jenna was no exception. Thoughtfully planned steps leave nothing to be desired and this is the only time I’ve seen a proper collar with a stand and not had to unpick at least once. I’ll be making more!

Love this pattern. Well written. It is definitely a “big” shirt as styled. Made the size suggested and turned out great. I may size down on my next make for a different look

Instant TNT!

I’ve been obsessed with shirtmaking lately and have been wanting a Jenna for a while and am duly impressed with this pattern. I chose the Size L based on my bust measurement (42”) and it was perfect amount of ease. I love how even though I usually choose patterns in the dressmaker D-cup blocks, this shirt fits sooooo well! No need for an FBA. I also appreciated the inclusion of a pattern piece for the Hem Gusset and the clever application instructions for it; neither of which I’d seen in other shirt patterns before. I also really liked the deep back yoke - very unique. As with all CC patterns, the instructions are very thorough and clearly illustrated. My modifications were to flat-fell all seams, finish the lower edges with self-bias binding and added about ⅜” to the point depth of the collar. I might make the collar a little deeper next time. The only issue I had was of my own making: Because I have short arms, it’s been standard for me to shorten sleeves by 1”. I’ve done this in the past on other CC patterns (and frankly all patterns with long sleeves) but this turned out to be a mistake on Jenna which I discovered when it was time to attach the cuffs so I simply attached them using a ¼” seam which gave me a little extra length to the sleeves and a slightly deeper cuff. Yes, they’re still an itty bit too short, but it’s not noticeable nor do they “feel” too short. Because it was a drop-shoulder construction with a roomy armhole, I foolishly ignored the finished sleeve measurement provided. Obviously this was a mistake. D'oh! But now I know that the pattern was indeed perfectly drafted in every way and my next Jenna (and there will definitely be more Jennas in my very near future!) will have sleeves of the exactly correct length. All in all, I loved the process of making this beautiful shirt and highly recommend to sewists of any level of experience. It’s an A++ from me!

Really satisfying pattern

I ended up making the dress with a bunch of modifications (pockets, pleats instead of gathered, and adding darts to the bodice to make it a little more fitted) - but the actual shirt part was really fun. I've sewn plenty of button-downs, but this pattern has some techniques that were new to me and IMO produced a much cleaner finish, especially the sleeves. I was dreading it, but the tower placket was my favorite part!
