Produced using traditional Batik wax resist dyed techniques by a weaver and dyer co-op in India, this cotton fabric is hand printed with a whimsical dot print. We love that you can feel the hand of the maker with its charmingly irregular motif. It also has a subtle texture where the dye has been applied that gives it immense character. With a medium-crisp drape and soft, comfortable weave, we suggest eye catching tops, buttondowns, dresses, lightweight pants, and pajamas. Nearly totally opaque, this fabric does not require a lining for most projects.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. You can add half a cup to one cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle to help set the colours and minimize bleeding. It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road.

Long-Term Care

Wash this cotton by hand or machine in warm water, tumble dry on medium or hot, and do not bleach.

Fabric Tips

You can use a hot iron when pressing cotton. You can use sharp point universal needles to sew your projects. We recommend starting your project with a brand new needle.
