The Amy Jumpsuit is comfort and breezy elegance all in one tidy, minimalist package. With a figure-skimming silhouette and ultra-wide, cropped legs, it's got the soul of a floaty slip dress in the body of a jumpsuit you'll never want to take off.

Amy features a flattering V-neckline in front and back, with wide shoulder straps designed to conceal bra straps; an invisible side zipper makes it easy to get on and off. Add function with optional inseam pockets, or cinch the waist with a classic tie belt for a more fitted shape.

SUGGESTED FABRIC

Drapey wovens such as rayon challis, tencel, silk, and viscose will create a soft, swishy effect.

Crisp, lightweight wovens like double gauze, linen, and lawn will provide a more structured silhouette.

Jumpsuit heaven

I bought a jumpsuit from retail four years ago on a whim. I have been mostly nomadic so I have to fit my entire wardrobe in a 35 liter backpack so I am very picky about what makes the cut. When my jumpsuit wore out after four years of heavy rotation I was panicked that I would never find something so versatile again. Then I found the Amy pattern. Spending several months in one place with a sewing machine I made three different versions of Amy, and feel confident I have my source for magical jumpsuits of the future. My third version has already been to three continents and four countries.

The pattern is easy, sews up quick, takes alterations with ease. I had from take in the middle seam as the shoulder straps have a tendency to slide off when I sit. I took in the legs a bit just to cut down on bulk (for fitting in my backpack) but kept them roomy enough to not change the shape I love. My chest to hip ratio made it so I never needed to install a zipper, even when I took in the center seam. I am still adjusting strap length and width for optimal stay-upness.

This pattern will serve my jumpsuit addiction for years to come.

So great!

Made this for my first post covid wedding! As a beginner, it was a challenge but in a good way - nothing I couldn’t do and I learned a lot!

So versatile!

I love this pattern. It wasn't one that grabbed my attention at first, but after a number of visits to the website it grew on me. I've made it up twice, in a swishy rayon with Picasso-like motifs and in a lightweight cotton twill by Yumi Yoshimoto (pictured here), which I really adore. Now I'm planning a version in black rayon matte jersey, and have agreed to make another for a friend. I'm a size 10 in Closet Core, but here I did a FBA on a size eight and reduced the side seams a fair amount beginning just below the waist. It fits really well. Thanks for a great pattern!

Gorgeous Jumpsuit

I’ve been looking for a jumpsuit to sew but as a beginner I was a bit worried about fitting the bottom half of a jumpsuit. This was a great one to sew up because the fit was perfect and easy. There’s an option for a belt or for a boho-chic vibe you can go without! Also, great instructions and tutorials so don’t worry about the zip!
