Melow deadstock semi-sheer 100% viscose twill in black. Soft hand and fluid drape for blouses, skirts, and dresses.
Why You'll Love It: Soft and fluid with a fine twill hand and an easy, flowing drape. The semi-sheer finish adds an effortless layered quality. Lean into it with floaty silhouettes and let the fabric do the talking.
How It's Made: Deadstock fabric locally sourced from Montreal indie designer Melow. Woven from 100% viscose and produced in Canada.
What To Make: Breezy blouses, flowy skirts, and chic dresses. Semi-sheer, embrace the transparency or add a lining depending on the project.
This fabric comes from Melow, a beloved indie fashion brand founded by Mélissa Bolduc that seamlessly blends comfort and elegance. Proudly designed and made in Canada, Melow emphasizes using local materials, favouring natural fibres over synthetics. Many of their fabrics are organic and/or locally produced. All garment production takes place in Quebec, minimizing their ecological footprint while supporting the local economy.
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.
Long-Term Care
Wash in cool water on the delicate cycle, and line dry or tumble dry on low. Finished garments should be hand washed with cool water to ensure minimal shrinkage.
Fabric Tips
Use an extra sharp pair of shears or rotary cutter and pattern weights to cut your fabric. Use a medium iron when pressing.
