Mylene B Midweight cotton-stainless steel blend broadcloth in mustard with a subtle striated hand. Crisp drape and shape-retaining texture for shirts, tops, pants, and skirts.

A fabric with a memory: scrunch it, shape it, and watch it hold the look.

  • Why You'll Love It Soft, crisp and tightly woven with a subtle striated surface that looks like a classic soft broadcloth at first glance, until you scrunch, pleat, or mould it and it holds that shape. The stainless steel thread also gives it anti-static properties.
  • How It's Made Deadstock fabric locally sourced from indie designer Mylene B. Woven from a 92% cotton and 8% Inox (stainless steel) blend for unique textural and functional properties.
  • What To Make Shirts, tops, trousers, and skirts, especially designs that play with the fabric's natural crinkle and shape-holding texture. Fully opaque.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

Long-Term Care

It’s always safest to dryclean, but it is possible to wash at home with care. Test an inconspicuous area in cool water. Wash separately if the dye bleeds. To wash by hand, soak in cool water with gentle laundry detergent like Eucalan or Soak for 30 minutes, occasionally agitating by hand. Rinse well and gently squeeze the water out (never wring!) To wash by machine, use the delicate cycle and a gentle laundry detergent. Remove immediately and hang to dry to prevent wrinkles, ensuring it’s hanging straight and not stretching or distorting along the grain.

Fabric Tips

Use a warm iron to press; a press cloth will help prevent 'shine' left from a too hot iron.
