    SUGGESTED FABRIC

Make a fluid, drapey Kalle with soft fabrics like tencel, linen, rayon challis and silk crepe de chine. Crisper fabrics like poplin, chambray, voile, flannel and traditional shirtings will create a more structured silhouette.

    Kalle Shirt dress

I am just now working on a practice garment in chambray of the Kalle Shirt dress. So far the directions are well written and easy to follow. It is difficult to tell if the pattern runs true to size as I am always doing something new for a different friend. I also ordered the PDF sleeve extension. I am not a fan of PDF patterns as they end up taking an inordinate amount of paper and extra time messing with my printer. I anticipate that I will be using this pattern quite a bit for garments for friends.

    I did it!!!

It looked intimidating but I was able to do a kale shirt!! I have tried to sew many times and never been completely satisfied until I started trying independent patterns, specifically Closet Core patterns. Love them!! I started with Pietra, then Cielo now Kalle and they all look and fit great!! I’m seriously slowing down on my RTW purchases, to the point that my mom and I decided to have a no-RTW-shopping challenge for 2023. Thanks!!! I’m having lots of fun!!!

    Wanted to love, but...

I'm 79, and clearly in the minority with what I am going to say: I am used to pattern pieces more clearly marked with more notches. I have been confused with the directions...My Vogue pattern instructions are right side shaded (opposite Closet Core). Vogue instructions are clearly marked View A, View B rather than button placket, hidden placket, popover placket. I think that I will like the shirt, once I figure it all out. Just saying, you asked...

Great pattern! I made mods on the crop top to suit me—eliminated the hi-lo bottom by lengthening the front to the back length, and turned up the bottom edge for a hem. The fit (on the 14-32 sized pattern) is terrific. I’ve made 2 tops so far and plan to make a few more with long sleeves, using the sleeve extension pattern.

    Perfectly Oversized for Summer

I made this in a size 18 and adore it - I'm a fairly new sewer and have only ever used the Big 4 sewing patterns and I was BLOWN away by how good the instructions were on this pattern. One of the first items I've made which I've worn multiple times and gotten so many compliments on. I went for the tunic option and it looks perfect - the step-by-step process was so helpful, and at no point did I feel lost. I've already had people ask me to make them one as well... but maybe I'll put that off until I've made a few more for me.... ;)
