Demat ("Hello" in Breton) is beautiful! Made of bamboo rayon, this Breton stripe terry from Montréal designer Cokluch is oh so soft in a chic and iconic French stripe! This Oeko-Tex®-certified midweight knit features loops on one side and a smooth knit weave on the other, resulting in a comfy, plush texture. With 50% four-way stretch on both cross and lengthwise grain and excellent recovery, we suggest using it to make classic Breton shirts, cozy knit dresses, jumpsuits, snug bodysuits, bodycon dresses and loungewear. Fully opaque, no lining is needed for this fabric.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

Long-Term Care

Bamboo should be hand washed with cool water, or machine washed on the delicate cycle using gentle laundry detergent. Tumble dry on low heat. Do not use chlorine bleach as it will yellow the fibers.

Fabric Tips

When pressing bamboo use a cool iron. Bamboo tends to be a bit shifty so use an extra sharp pair of shears or rotary cutter and pattern weights to cut your fabric.
