Tariff Update

On July 30, President Trump signed an executive order ending the tariff exemption for imports valued under $800, which were previously duty-free. As a result, starting August 29, all shipments entering the U.S. may be subject to tariffs—regardless of their value or country of origin.

We are currently working to update our website to reflect this change as clearly as possible.

On May 12, the U.S. government announced a temporary 90-day reduction in tariff rates on imports of products made in China.
However, this change does not apply to shipments under the de minimis threshold, which remains revoked for goods made in China.
This means that the $100 flat fee per package containing Chinese-made products still applies, and U.S. customers may continue to see duties and fees upon delivery for these items.
To avoid additional charges, we recommend shopping from our U.S. Tariff-Free Collection, which features only products not made in China.

Starting May 2, 2025, the U.S. government will end duty-free (de minimis) treatment for goods from China and Hong Kong. This means that all products of Chinese origin imported into the U.S. will now be subject to applicable duties, tariffs, and taxes. This change stems from an official Presidential Executive Order issued by the White House. You can read the full text of the Executive Order here.

As a result, any applicable US import fees will be billed by your shipping carrier at or after delivery, and these charges are beyond our control and are the responsibility of the customer. Please note that shipments into the US WITHOUT Chinese goods will continue to be tariff free, provided they do not exceed the $800 de minimis exemption (more on that below).

Fortunately we have always worked hard to build a diverse and robust supply chain around the world, and only a small percentage of our products will be affected. In addition, we’re actively working to replace the products we are currently sourcing from China. In the meantime, existing made-in-China products will incur these additional import costs.

To help make things easier and more transparent for our U.S. customers, we’ve added a few key features to our website:

"De minimis" is a legal term meaning "too small to be considered." It allows businesses outside the US to ship packages valued up to $800 USD to American customers without incurring duties. This customs exemption has been in place since 2016 when it was increased from $200, and is why we are able to ship duty free packages to our wonderful customers in the US.

While the US government plans to reevaluate the current de minimis policy, they are continuing to allow duty-free de minimis shipments from Canada and Mexico until US customs is able to efficiently process duty collection on these packages.

On March 2, President Trump issued an executive order that delays the removal of de minimis for imports from Canada and Mexico. This order states that the duty-free de minimis treatment—which allows low-value imports to enter the U.S. without tariffs—will remain in effect until the Secretary of Commerce certifies that systems are fully operational to process and collect tariff revenue efficiently*. Once this occurs, the exemption will end.

If or when this happens, we will likely have to start charging tariffs at checkout for US customers, and will inform you when this change occurs. Whatever happens next, please know that we’re doing everything we can to find the best solution for both you, our valued customers, and the future of our small business.

In reference to Executive Order 14193 (February 1, 2025) and its amendment by Executive Order 14197 (February 3, 2025), the following change was made to section 2(h):

"Duty-free de minimis treatment under 19 U.S.C. 1321 is available for otherwise eligible covered articles described in subsections (a) and (b) of this section. Such duty-free de minimis treatment shall cease to be available for such otherwise eligible covered articles upon notification by the Secretary of Commerce to the President that adequate systems are in place to fully and expeditiously process and collect tariff revenue applicable pursuant to subsections (a) and (b) of this section for covered articles otherwise eligible for de minimis treatment."
