This gorgeous organic cotton twill in a selection of oh-so-springy shades is a breath of fresh air, made with low-impact dyeing methods and 100% biodegradable fibre. While it's as crisp as you'd want a twill to be, at 7 oz it's a fantastic weight for transitional seasons, and versatile enough for a variety of garments from trousers and skirts to jackets and structured workwear (consider waxing it for a water-resistant finish!) Fully opaque, it does not require a lining.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. You can add half a cup to one cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle to help set the colours and minimize bleeding. It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road.

Long-Term Care

Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot.

Fabric Tips

You can use a hot iron when pressing cotton. You can use sharp point universal needles to sew your projects. We recommend starting your project with a brand new needle.

Wonderful!

I’ve purchased many yards and colors of Core midweight organic cotton twill: mulberry, navy, khaki, and ice blue. It’s easy to work with, and wears well. The colors are gorgeous and seem to be holding their depth after laundering. My granddaughter and a friend (13 and 12) spend 4 days with me learning to sew. They prepared fabric and did every stitch of their pleated skirts except invisible zippers. They are so proud! As a retired teacher, this is the age to teach sewing to kids. FUN!

Midweight Organic Cotton Twill

Made my fourth pair of Pietra pants (narrow version), this time from this cotton twill, in the parchment colourway. They are a crisp, white, and comfy summer pant. I will sew with this fabric again as it was so easy to manage. I have paired it with the Cielo top and love the look.

Love this fabric

Purhased this fabric in different colours (Mulberry is fantastic), and absolutely love it. So far made a pair of shorts and a skirt. Orders are packaged with great care, very much appreciate labels with fabric care notes. Thank you Core Fabrics :-)

Great Weight

This Mid-Weight Organic Cotton Twill is the perfect weight for pants. Heavy enough you know your pants will stand the test of time, but light enough that it presses and sews up easily. I am happy with the colour selection offered - from beige to navy blue to black white and burgundy and brown they have really covered all the essential pant colours. For anyone who also wondered if this fabric has a sheen, I am happy to report that it does not. (The pictures made me wonder) It's wonderful fabric and I definitely want to use it again, and again.
