Luxurious in all the ways a fine silk should be, this habotai is actually limited deadstock from the iconic Toronto designer Lida Baday. Habotai itself is a textile known for its airiness and sheer, shimmering weave: this deadstock's no exception. Its soft, light hand and gentle drape make it a delicate choice for any unstructured project. We suggest using it as an eye-catching lining for a truly special garment, or a delicate, flowy dress. Semi-sheer in lighter colours, it may require a lining (or not, for the daring!)

I am very pleased with the fabric.
Stunning deep blue color. Perfect weight & texture for lining.
Beautiful silk with a lovely hand and drape.
This is going to be perfect for some very special pajamas! I love it.
I purchased both the sand and sea green habotai which are both intended as linings. The fabric is definitely lining or lingerie weight, and I’d personally want to fully self line anything intended to be a standalone outer garment- that said it’s exactly what I was hoping for.
Sand is the perfect pale nude colour and will be used to line the bodice of a wedding dress and to sew a slip with the leftovers. The sea green is destined to line a wool skirt as a secret pop of colour.
I’m very pleased with the value of the fabric and can’t wait to sew with it!
