Inspired by vintage work-wear, Jenny is a modern interpretation of classic overalls and wide-leg trousers with ultra-high rise, sleek, functional details and a comfortable all-day-long fit.

Make a more sophisticated version of dungarees with our well-proportioned bib and optional utility pocket, or omit the bib entirely and make a pair of wide-legged cropped pants, full-length pants or shorts. Optional details abound; mix and match the curved slash front pockets, faux fly front, single or double zipper waistband and rounded back patch pockets. To personalize even further, go all out with high contrast topstitching, or take a more minimalist approach for a clean, elegant finish.

Sizes: 0-20 (print and PDF) and 14-32 (PDF)

Recommended fabric

  • Bottom-weight woven fabrics: denim, twill, canvas, gabardine, medium weight linen, jacquard and brocade.
  • Medium-weight woven fabric for pockets: shirting, chambray or quilting cotton (0.5 yd/0.45 m).

Gorgeous pants!

I love these pants so much. I did the Trousers in a cotton chambray, with one side zip. They fit very well, and were easy to adjust to my non-standard waist-hip ratio.
My only complaint is that the illustrations for concealing the zipper were confusing, and I didn't quite understand the instructions for that step. I ended up just topstitching around the zipper and leaving it very visible, which is fine but not quite as clean as it could be.

Hi Jenn,
We're sorry you did not find this part of the instructions easy to understand.
We wrote a blog article about the lapped zipper, and you can find it here: https://blog.closetcorepatterns.com/how-to-sew-a-lapped-zipper-for-the-jenny-overalls/
It might help you if you want to do another Jenny!

Patron chouette et modulable

Beaucoup de versions possibles. J'ai adapté le pantalon pour mettre une braguette devant et pas de côté. Pour moi, agrandissement des pinces et réduction des côtés tailles (5mm) pour un ajustement parfait !

Jenny Shorts Pattern - Love them!

I received my pattern a few weeks ago and I had been waiting for the summer holidays to start. I will finish them today.
Closet Core patterns are one of my favourites as they are easy to read and the pictures are helpful.
I bought the Blanca Flight Suit pattern as well. Can't wait to make that one as well.
Keep up the great pattern making Closet Core Crew.

Fit to large, but awesome pattern!

I’m fairly beginner, so I followed the pattern based on my measurements, and found that it ended up fitting much too large. This is my first pair of pants I’ve ever made, so I’m willing to admit it may have been user error, but I did have to take several inches off the waist/hip area for a well fitting pant. That being said, this is only my second sewing project since some basic sewing with my mom when I was a kid, and I found the instructions very helpful and easy to follow! I was able to learn a bunch of new skills that I’d never tried before (pockets, buttons, zippers!). Overall very happy with it, although would probably go down 2 sizes or so next time I use the pattern!
