The Bombshell Swimsuit is modeled on a classic 1950’s silhouette, a style that harkens back to the golden era of glamourous swimwear.

The pattern includes 3 variations: a gathered bust maillot, a halter neck, and a high waist bottom which you can mix and match with your favourite bikini top. With ruched seams, a booty encasing seat and a skirt-like front, the Bombshell is fully lined and provides an appealing amount of coverage.

Stylish Swim suit

I have not yet made this pattern, but I really like the idea of a more modest style of suit for myself, as I am over 65, and have a few things that jiggle. I have my fabric already, just need time to sew!

Stunning

This is an amazing pattern. I absolutely love it. Great directions, easy to follow. Only modification I made was to shorten the butt elastic to 60% (instead of 70%) so it was tighter across my bum. Otherwise the sizing was accurate. I will definitely be making this again!

Great instructions but would not recommend this for curvier bodies

I made up version A and while making it up was a breeze, I wouldn’t recommend this pattern if you’re self conscious about your belly (I'm a 14/16). The ruched parts stretch out over the belly which highlighted my stomach when I thought the ruching would disguise it. Other versions may be better suited though so just choose carefully.

Awesome vintage bathing suit!

I was so pleased with how much easier this bathing suit was compared to others. I was able to finish it in two evenings and came together fairly easily. I received a lot compliments on it and I felt comfortable wearing it on my vacation where I spent a lot of time at the pool. I didn't make too many modifications other than bringing the halter top closer so it would be a bit more modest but it wasn't really necessary. I also eliminated the inside seams for the lining by cutting on fold. I didn't have to made any adjustments to my sizing and went off the measurements on the pattern. I also made the bottom for another bathing suit top I made previously and that one came out great too. I will definitely make this again.

Magnifique!
