Elodie is a modern take on a classic wrap dress. Romantic and flowy with multiple skirt and sleeve options, it’s equally appropriate at a park picnic or a special wedding.

Elodie features a softly flowing bodice, with release pleats under the bust and a dolman style sleeve. Choose between a short sleeve or a longer, more formal option that ends at the elbow. The skirt is swishy and voluminous and comes in three lengths, above the knee, midi or maxi, with optional patch pockets.

Sizes: 0-20 (print and PDF) and 14-32 (PDF)

Recommended fabricElodie can be made in a wide variety of fabrics. Light to medium weight wovens like linen, cotton poplin, batiste, voile and chambray will have a more casual feel. Choose a drapey woven like silk, viscose, tencel or rayon challis for a more elegant or fluid effect.

Versatile pattern for different occassions

Sewing my first Elodie was a breeze (instructions-wise; sewing it in silk chiffon was a bit of a slow and nerve wrecking job, but still totally worth it!) and I am happy I went for this pattern for my wedding guest dress - as I will be definitelly wearing it a lot and also sewing another Elodie(s) in more casual fabric for different feel of it. Love the construction and the fit as well!
For my 177 cms I added 7 cms of skirt lenght for midi skirt and sew both sleeve and skirt hems much narrower due to the fine fabric which lengtened both even more.

Lovely Pattern, with a Few Tricky Bits

I wanted a cute summery dress to wear to a few weddings, and thought the Elodie Wrap Dress would fit the bill-and it did! I am very pleased with the end product, and found the directions overall to be pretty comprehensive. I made the short sleeved midi version, with a lightweight cotton voile and lightweight knit interfacing, finishing everything with french seams. I also took the liberty of adding a ruffle to the bottom, for an extra flounce.

My one small complaint is that I wish there had been more information on how to lengthen the pattern. I'm a little over 5'9" and have a long torso, so often need to increase the length of top/bodices. I did so for this pattern, but the way I increased the length (to keep the angle of the wrap front consistent with the pattern) added a few extra inches to the width that I didn't account for. I had to re-cut the waistband pieces to be longer, and in an ideal world would have also increased the circumference of the skirt; as it stands, my skirt ends a *little* before the ends of the bodice. That's what I get for only making a toile of the top part! Oh well :-) so for any other folks increasing or decreasing the length, that's something to watch out for!

I would realistically rate this pattern a 9.5/10, so I gave it 5 stars! I'm looking forward to making it again with my new knowledge!

Lovely pattern

I did not have the chance yet to sew this dress, but my best friend told me to buy it because she has multiple Closet Core patterns and says they are all brilliant, so i trust her judgement :-).

Great pattern

It's really well written and easy to follow. The free blog post about a full bust adjustment really helped me nail the perfect fit. I made it for my brother's wedding as I was a bridesmaid and everyone loved it
