Modern yet timeless, Phoebe is a double-breasted coat with a cocoon shape. Fully lined, it features a dramatic notched collar and lapel that can also be worn closed to stop drafts. The dropped shoulder, roomy two-piece sleeve, and oversized fit make this coat ideal for layering over bulky winter layers. Destined to keep you warm on the coldest of days, this pattern is a great introduction to sewing tailored garments.

  • View A is below-knee length with large patch pockets.
  • View B ends at mid-thigh with inseam pockets.

Suggested Fabrics

  • Coat body: mid- to heavyweight coatings such as melton, bouclé, tweed, felt, and boiled wool.
  • Lining: Lightweight silky fabrics such as rayon bemberg, charmeuse, kasha, and crepe de chine.
  • Interfacing: midweight weft interfacing

Please note this pattern is available in Alpha Sizing, a new addition to our size range. This pattern spans from XXS (31" bust, 33" hip) to 4X (60" bust, 62" hip).

Beautiful coat

I took the class which was incredibly helpful. It's the most involved thing I've made thus far and I couldn't be more proud of it. (Pats self on back). I learned to sew taking the CC class and I'm just going to work my way through all of the classes 10/10.

Coat Making Simplified

Thoroughly enjoyed the class. Camera angles so clear and instructions were excellent. I was sewing a different coat but all the steps I needed were covered in this tutorial. Will definitely try another class.

Wonderful Resource

Absolutely adore all of Closet Cores classes. The classes are light and educational and I almost always end up smiling through the videos. Super fun and I end up returning to many of the videos for other projects.

Fabulous

Love the in-depth instructions. I even laughed out loud - though sewing is no laughing matter. Have made a few jackets/coats - learning so much more than in previous classes. Instructor is great. Thank you.

Phoebe Coat, late to the party ... but

I bought this course and my materials I think back in early December, and only now have I been able to sit down, focus and work on this project. I'm guessing my procastination had everything to do with my fear of failure. HA! I still have the fear as I dont think I did enough to preshrink the boiled wool....but...What a great course! Love the written directions BUT the special tips and onscreen guidance from Heather is just amazing! Even though Spring is around the corner, still loving this experience, and have ideas for my next Phoebe coat. To Closet Core, thank you bunches... a video will come once I completed.
