Ruut is a relaxed, oversized sewing pattern with two variations: a straight-cut shirt and a shirt dress. Both variations feature large pointed collars and a button-front closure. The shirt has a curved hem, patch pockets and long cuffed sleeves with deep buttoned vents. The dress has short sleeves, side pockets and deep vents at the hem, secured with buttons.

MATERIALS & SUPPLIES

  • Fusible interfacing, 50 cm (2/4 yd)

  • Small or medium 12–18 mm (1/2–3/4”) buttons, 12 pcs

Shirt dress

  • Non-stretch fabric, see the chart

  • Fusible interfacing, 160 cm (1 ¾ yd)

  • Small or medium 12–18 mm (1/2–3/4”) buttons, 14 pcs

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS

For either variation, choose a light, non-stretch shirting fabric, such as voile, poplin, or a light linen shirting.

From our studio in beautiful Montreal, Canada, we are delighted to ship to makers worldwide. Shipping is free on Canadian and US orders over $150. 

We ship globally! Non Canadian and US orders and orders under 150$ are calculated by weight.

Orders outside of Canada are subject to customs and duties and are the sole responsibility of the customer. Orders to the US under 800$ are duty-free.

We are committed to investing in sustainability initiatives to counteract the environmental impact of shipping. We offset our carbon footprint by contributing funds for every package shipped to supporting projects that remove excess carbon dioxide from the environment.
