This stunning organic cotton duck is built to work hard and play hard. Soft to the touch, yet durable enough for any workwear application, we're so thrilled to have found this pre-shrunk gem of a midweight staple. With a moderate yet structured drape, it is easy to work with and holds a crease well.
This duck lends itself to hard-wearing garments: trousers, overalls, coveralls, jackets, and tote bags come to mind. Fully opaque, it does not require a lining.

Care Instructions

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. You can add half a cup to one cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle to help set the colours and minimize bleeding. It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road.

Long-Term Care

Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot.

Fabric Tips

You can use a hot iron when pressing cotton. We recommend starting your project with a brand new needle.

Lavender Organic Cotton Canvas - beautiful

I have just enjoyed working with the organic cotton canvas so much. And the colour is amazing! So helpful to get the fabrics and notions all in a kit for my cross body bag. Thank you, Core Fabrics!

Not what I expected

I was expecting mid weight to mean a finer weave and not so stiff. The fabric is heavy, course weave and like a heavy denim feel. I did go ahead and make the slim leg Mitchell pants and they look pretty good but I wish the fabric was not so utilitarian.

Love, the fabric…will be a stunning Blanca Flightsuit.

Good Sturdy Bottom Weight

I bought this fabric to make the Poppy Camp Shorts. This is good sturdy material to use for shorts. Good strong seams, holds a fold well and generally feels like thanks to this fabric my shorts will stand the test of time. Oh and I love the colour too! Win- win.

Good Study Bottom Weight

This fabric is very stiff when it first arrived. Softened considerably after first wash, and farther still with wear.
It is very easy to work with, sews up well, holds a fold nicely.
I am looking forward to enjoying the shorts I made for many years, as I am sure this fabric will stand the test of time!
