This stunning broadcloth cotton comes straight from Ghana, where it is custom Batik-dyed by talented artisans in small batches. The intricate process involves applying melted wax to the fabric in beautiful patterns, followed by immersion in eco-friendly dyes. Once the dye is set, the wax is removed to reveal a gorgeous wavy design against a light blue background. This unique pattern, with its earthy, dynamic feel, is visible on both sides of the fabric, adding depth to your makes. Whether you're making shirts, skirts, dresses, or a pair of relaxed trousers, or accessories, this easy-to-sew fabric is fully opaque and doesn’t require a lining.
This Ghanian supplier"s small team has been producing traditional batik with an emphasis on creativity, environmental awareness, and community for over 20 years. Their traditional methods are matched with modern dedication to fair trade practices and eco-friendly raw materials to create a final product that anyone can feel proud to wear. Proudly woman-founded, their efforts have earned them a Common Objective Leadership award, recognizing their commitment to business practices that transform communities and address environmental concerns.<br>

Biodegradable
Wash
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. You can add half a cup to one cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle to help set the colours and minimize bleeding. It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road.
Long-Term Care
Wash this cotton by hand or machine in warm water, tumble dry on medium or hot, and do not bleach.
Fabric Tips
You can use a hot iron when pressing cotton. You can use sharp point universal needles to sew your projects. We recommend starting your project with a brand new needle.

This is lovely fabric!
You can immediately feel the difference in quality compared to other cotton fabrics, it has a definite artisanal feel to it.
It washes up really well, with little crinkles on its textured surface.
I bought the Ochre Coffee Bean but now I want all the colours!
Very nice fabric! I made an Ashton top with it and it turned out great!
I used my batik fabric to make a jumpsuit and I’ve gotten tons of positive feedback on it. As well as the beautiful colour, the fabric has substantial weight and hangs well.
