This Japanese cotton shirting puts a fresh spin on classic stripes. Set against a rich indigo background, the alternating white and soft blue stripes don’t vary in size but their changing motifs give the pattern a quiet rhythm and charm. It’s subtle, striking, and a little bit unexpected. Lightweight with a crisp drape and a tight weave, this fabric offers clean lines and structure, while a slightly textured hand adds just the right touch of depth, less than a seersucker, but enough to make your garment pop. Fully opaque and a dream to sew, it’s perfect for tailored button-ups, structured shirt dresses, coordinated sets, or sharp summer pajamas. A versatile staple with personality woven right in.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

Long-Term Care

It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road. Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot. More delicate cottons like voile, double gauze or embroidered cottons should be washed by hand or on the delicate cycle.

Fabric Tips

Use a hot iron when pressing.
