Talk about dreamy – this gorgeous midweight organic cotton checks all our "ideal fabric" boxes: crisp and easily pressed, cooperative when sewn, soft and comforting on the skin, and woven from organic, biodegradable cotton in a gorgeous range of desaturated colours. This cotton broadcloth is a fabric stash workhorse, ideal for a ton of applications and substantial enough to stand the test of time. A bit heavier in weight than our tumbled and textured cotton, it's ideal for pants, workwear, light jackets, skirts, tote bags and sturdy shirts and dresses. Fully opaque, it does not require a lining.

Made With Organic Cotton

This fabric is made from organic cotton whose production reduces the amount of water pollution via soil erosion and nutrient leaching compared to conventional cotton production. Organic cotton production relies mainly on rainwater, and is often interplanted with other crops, so significantly reduces water use and improves biodiversity.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

Long-Term Care

It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road. Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot. More delicate cottons like voile, double gauze or embroidered cottons should be washed by hand or on the delicate cycle.

Fabric Tips

Use a hot iron when pressing.

Organic cotton broadcloth

This fabric has such a nice hand and washed well. Although I have not cut it out with the Rika pants pattern yet (you know, squirrel brain!) I’m looking forward to wearing this creation!

A luxury that pays off

I'm in Chile, so buying a fabric abroad is a luxury and it was worth it. The colour is just as you can see in the picture and it is a pleasure to feel the texture. I have just started sewing an overshirt for my husband with it and it is so easy to work with.

Love It!

This fabric was perfect for the Pietra pants. I'm so happy with how they turned out. The perfect weight. It was easy to sew with. I'll be getting this fabric again.

Cannot recommend it enough!

The high gsm without being too stiff (like canvas or duck) was so hard to find, especially all organic cotton. I used mine to make a floor cushion and I keep getting complements on the fabric. It is SO soft and keeps cool. Would 100% recommend it; I have no doubt that it will last a long time.

I love this fabric!

This fabric makes a great pair of pants. I made the Coe Trousers from Daughter Judy and they’re my new favorite pair of pants.
