This cupro blend is a textile lover’s dream. Similar in hand and feel to sandwashed silk, we love its ethereal floatiness and elegant drape. With a soft, sueded texture and slight sheen, it's an absolute joy to handle and wear. Produced from regenerated cellulose fibre from cotton waste, cupro is breathable and regulates temperature like classic cotton. Use it for any lightweight garment, from floaty dresses, blouses, wide-legged pants and lingerie. Fully opaque, no lining is needed for this fabric.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing and prepare for sewing! We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Separate brights as some dyes and prints may run the first few washes. Cupro has a tendency to shrink quite a bit, so we suggest washing at least once to remove as much shrinkage before sewing.

Long-Term Care

Wash in cool water on the delicate cycle, and line dry or tumble dry on low. Finished garments should be hand washed with cool water to ensure minimal shrinkage.

Fabric Tips

Use a medium iron when pressing cupro. Take your time when cutting out your fabric as cupro can be a bit shifty. Use a rotary cutter and cut on the flat when possible.

Sandwashed Cupro

Cupro is a good substitute for silk in some instances. I’ve made a couple of blouse with which I am pleased. The best part about the fabric is that it’s machine washable and can be placed in a dryer resulting in a fairly wrinkle-free garment.

Low quality

This material shredded along the selvage on the first wash in the handwash cycle, leaving large ragged holes. When I emailed Core, they let me know this is typical of the fabric due to how it is produced and offered a 20% refund.

Frankly, I’m appalled that they would continue to stock and sell a material they know to be low quality - and for such a premium price!

Based on this experience, I have very low trust for their quality control.

Hi Emily,
We wanted to apologize for your negative experience, and clarify our initial email: the holes in the selvedge of the cupro come from the machine in which it is manufactured, and not from the quality of the fibre used, or the integrity of the fabric itself. We truly believe in the quality of this fabric, which is why we continue to stock it despite the occasional manufacturing defects. We keep a close eye on the selvedge of our cupro because of this.
We are so sorry you recieved a cut that was below our standards. We hope to have the chance to prove our commitment to quality to you in the future.

Beautiful dusty rose colour

I love the colour of this pretty fabric. Now that I made a dress with it I have some mixed feelings. It does look gorgeous however it’s not that easy to sew fue to it stickiness factor, it doesn’t move smoothly under the needle. Another point is that it’s extremely wrinkly, as I finished ironing the dress, new wrinkles appeared out of nowhere even before I put it on, just from handling the fabric. Any tips of keeping it less wrinkly would be appreciated.
