Crafted from 100% organic cotton, our lightweight batiste fabric offers visual appeal and exceptional comfort. The red hue of this fabric is a result of natural dyeing with madder roots, sourced straight from nature's gorgeous palette! With its tightly woven structure, batiste fabric boasts remarkable durability, standing up well to everyday wear and tear. Featuring a medium drape and a smooth, soft finish, this naturally breathable fabric is perfect for crafting breezy garments such as blouses, shirts, dresses, and more. While it's nearly opaque, some applications may benefit from an additional lining.

Naturally Dyed 100% Certified Organic Cotton

This gorgeous fabric was made by a certified organic fabric supplier based in India. The organic cotton is sourced from the southern region of India and goes through ginning and spinning processes using certified organic setups. The resulting woven fabric is also certified organic. Furthermore, the dyeing process for this fabric only uses natural plant-based dyes. Natural dyeing not only reduces water pollution by replacing petrochemical dyes but also infuses the fabric with potential medicinal properties from herbs used in the process.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. Be patient with initial washes. It's normal for the colour of natural dyed fabric to stabilize after 3-4 washes.

Long-Term Care

Hand wash in cold water with a mild liquid soap, similar to how you treat delicate fabrics like silk or wool. Avoid bleaching & scrubbing to prevent fading and damages. Line dry in shade to preserve colour intensity. Some naturally dyed colours like indigo blue can be light sensitive. Store covered away from light when storing long-term to prevent further fading.

Fabric Tips

Use an extra sharp pair of shears or rotary cutter and pattern weights to cut your fabric. Iron on wrong side of fabric
