At Core Fabrics, we source high-quality jean fabric from the best mills, so every metre of cloth is as durable as it is stylish. Denim is made using strong cotton yarn, woven into the classic diagonal twill that gives it its signature look and resilience. Whether you’re sewing casual tops, jackets, or classic jeans, our selection offers the perfect balance of comfort and longevity.
From lightweight 8oz denims to heavy-duty 12oz options, each fabric is chosen for its ability to stand up to daily wear and your creative vision.

Our collection is designed with sewists in mind, offering a wide range of denims for every project. Explore stretch denim, a comfortable blend with elastane or polyester for added elasticity, ideal for casual styles and children’s wear. You’ll also find classic non-stretch 100% cotton denim and lighter denim shirting, each with its own character at the machine and on the body.
For those who love authentic vintage appeal, our raw and selvedge denims highlight the distinctive twill weave and timeless style that make denim a favourite cloth for makers. Choose denim by the metre in a range of shades from classic blue, unexpected hues and colourful bull denim to deep indigo to suit your next project.

Denim is a durable cloth, but proper care keeps your creations looking great for years. To preserve the deep blue of your washed denim, wash as little as possible and always use cold water. Turn your garments inside out to protect the indigo dye and avoid bleach, which can weaken the yarn. For a naturally worn-in look, wear your handmade pieces often! A gentle wash will help maintain the integrity of your denim and keep your projects looking fresh.

Where is Denim Made?
Denim, originating from De Nîmes, France (hence the name!), flourished in the 19th century. As workwear gained prominence, denim production shifted to the United States, where some of the world's finest denim emerged for decades. However, many U.S. mills, including the iconic Cone Mills White Oak plant, have since closed. Despite some small-scale production persisting, the majority of denim is now made overseas. Japan leads the pack, with a deep passion for denim evidenced by their acquisition of vintage looms from American mills, some even meticulously restored. Italy, Spain, and Turkey also boast stunning and innovative denim creations.
