Since we launched our Wholesale Program in spring 2025, we've been proud to collaborate with independent designers, emerging local brands, and innovative textile studios who are choosing to produce differently.

Designing with intention starts here.

We believe the future of fashion is being shaped by makers like you. Those who think carefully about materials, processes, and the lasting impact of every garment.
Whether you're exploring deadstock fabrics, reducing waste at the pattern stage, or building a more circular collection, we're here to support your journey. And yes — sourcing the right materials, managing production costs, and building a reliable manufacturing network still matter deeply. We help with that too.

Core Fabrics is proud to draw on the Toolkit, adapted by Fashion Takes Action (FTA) from the WRAP framework, as a guiding reference for our community of committed creators. These 11 pillars aren't a checklist — they're an invitation to rethink how collections are conceived, made, and experienced.

Let's Be Real — Here's What It Actually Means

Here is a concrete overview of how to apply these principles to your business practices.

Recycled materials — Designing with recycled and recovered fibres to reduce reliance on virgin resources.

Existing Material — Design from deadstock, offcuts, or recovered fabrics

Engineer your markers to minimize loss and find creative use for every scrap

Next Gen material — Sourcing innovative, low-impact, or regenerative fibres that set a new standard for responsible material selection.

Prefered Renewable Materials
Sourcing natural fibres that replenish naturally, moving away from finite or fossil-based materials.

Lower Impact Processes Making smarter choices at every production step to reduce water, energy, and chemical use.

Minimize Material Wastes
Engineering smarter markers and finding creative uses for every offcut, so nothing ends up in the bin.

Remake
Extending the life of existing garments and materials by transforming, upcycling, or repurposing them into new products.

Design for Durability — Choose stronger seams and longer-lasting fabrics to extend garment life.

Design for Versatility — Design for versatility — Creating garments that can be worn, styled, or adapted in multiple ways, encouraging longer use and reducing the need to buy more.

Design for Recyclability — Make repairs easy and accessible — think replaceable buttons, clean seam allowances and plan for end of life.

Design for Disassembly — Make it easy to take apart for repair or recycling.

Explore the Toolkit developed with WRAP and adapted for Canada by Fashion Takes Action, to support durable and circular design. You can also benefit from hands-on, one-on-one guidance from a sustainable fashion expert.

Leading this initiative is Lise-Marie Cayer, Business Development Manager at Core Fabrics — bringing 20 years of hands-on expertise as a fashion designer, pattern maker, and production director in the local market.

A graduate of Cégep Marie-Victorin's Fashion Design program, Lise-Marie founded her activewear brand Voyou in 2007 — producing locally in Québec from day one, and sourcing deadstock fabrics long before it was a trend. That early commitment to making thoughtfully, not just beautifully, has shaped everything she's built since.

From 2015 to 2024, through her consulting company Fil et Crayon, she partnered with a wide range of fashion businesses as a pattern maker, sourcing strategist, and production specialist. Her approach goes beyond efficiency: working with clients like Rose Boréal, she developed marker-making strategies to minimize fabric waste — then transformed those offcuts into upcycled accessories and capsule collections, and reimagined dormant inventory into new product lines. So committed was she to Rose Boréal's vision that she became a partner in the eco-responsible activewear brand, now recognized for its sustainable yoga and workout wear.

Whether you're launching your first collection or evolving toward a more circular practice, Lise-Marie brings the real-world experience, industry depth, and creative resourcefulness to help you get there — with less waste, more intention, and a stronger bottom line.
