Special Cirque du Soleil deadstock in fully opaque black and orange silk jacquard with a crisp drape, luminous sheen, and reversible woven design. Perfect for pleated skirts, tailored pieces, and occasionwear.
Two beautiful sides, which honestly feels a little unfair to our other fabrics.
• Why You’ll Love It: Crisp yet smooth with an elegant sheen, this reversible silk jacquard offers two distinct looks: tiny orange dots on a black base on one side, and subtly textured orange stripes on the other.
• How It’s Made: Luxurious 100% silk deadstock from the Cirque du Soleil costume department with a reversible woven jacquard construction that presses beautifully and holds structure with ease.
• What To Make: Pleated skirts, sculptural tops, tailored trousers, statement jackets, or special occasion pieces that play with both sides of the fabric for contrasting details and finishes.

This fabric comes straight from the archives of Cirque du Soleil, a household name around the world with headquarters right here in Quebec. We’re thrilled to partner with them to bring a little bit of that circus magic to your sewing stash. IIf you’ve ever seen a Cirque du Soleil show, you know the incredible creativity that goes into each costume—designed to move, sparkle, and highlight the performers’ jaw-dropping feats. Now, you can channel a piece of that artistry into your own projects!
Wash
Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.
Long-Term Care
It’s always safest to dryclean silk, but it is possible to wash at home with care. Since silk is a protein fibre, it’s wise to think about it like washing your hair - gently! Silk may bleed more than other fibres; test an inconspicuous area in cool water. Wash separately if the dye bleeds. If it's a print, it may be safer to dry clean. To wash by hand, soak in cool water with gentle laundry detergent like Eucalan or Soak for 30 minutes, occasionally agitating by hand. Rinse well and gently squeeze the water out (never wring!) To wash by machine, use the delicate cycle and a gentle laundry detergent. Remove immediately and hang to dry to prevent wrinkles, ensuring it’s hanging straight and not stretching or distorting along the grain.
Fabric Tips
Use a warm iron to press; a press cloth will help prevent 'shine' left from a too hot iron. Silk tends to be a bit shifty so use an extra sharp pair of shears or rotary cutter and pattern weights to cut your fabric.
