Short of velvet, few fabrics exude luxury quite like corduroy. While the charming tale of its name deriving from "corde du roi" – "cord of the king" – is a myth, the regal feel is undeniable. This exquisite deadstock 100% cotton corduroy will have you feeling like royalty. With its medium drape, very fine wale, and slight mechanical stretch for added comfort, this midweight fabric is perfect for crafting pants, dungarees, skirts, structured dresses, and jackets. Fully opaque, it doesn’t require a lining.

Deadstock

Reducing Waste from the Textile + Fashion Industry

In the fashion industry, deadstock refers to fabrics that are either surplus or left over from production, including high-quality designer textiles. By sourcing deadstock fabrics, we are giving them a new lease on life and keeping them out of landfills.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them. You can add half a cup to one cup of vinegar to the final rinse cycle to help set the colours and minimize bleeding. It’s important to wash and dry cotton to remove any potential shrinkage down the road.

Long-Term Care

Machine wash in warm water and tumble dry on medium or hot.

Fabric Tips

You can use a hot iron when pressing cotton. You can use sharp point universal needles to sew your projects. We recommend starting your project with a brand new needle.
