We're deeply excited about this one-of-a-kind midweight viscose-linen blend! With a gently textured weave, cozy soft hand, and extraordinary drape, this delight of a fabric is what happens when the best qualities of viscose and linen have a magical baby. How so? Imagine the fluid, heavy drape of viscose combined with the breathability, texture, and heft of linen - the result is your new favourite fabric. Easy to care for and an utter delight to sew, it's a gorgeous choice for your next project. Super-versatile because of its weight, it can work for a wide variety of garments, from flowy trousers to caftans, jumpsuits and shirtdresses. Fully opaque, it does not require a lining.

Care Instructions

Wash

Always pretreat fabric before sewing to remove chemical sizing from the manufacturing process. Pre-washing also gives you a better sense of the true drape and handfeel of a fabric. We recommend washing and drying fabric in the same way you intend to wash your finished garment. Be sure to separate brights and colours, as some dyes and prints may run the first few times you wash them.

Fabric Tips

Use an extra sharp pair of shears or rotary cutter and pattern weights to cut your fabric. Use a medium iron when pressing.

Just About Perfect

My excellent experience with Textured Viscose Linen in Moss prompted me to use this beautiful, cooperative fabric in other applications, other colors. It has the textured charm of linen while offering fluid drape that keeps garments from looking stiff and puffy. For some magical reason, Textured Viscose Linen is cool to the touch, even in warm weather.

This fabric requires close attention when cutting out a garment. The grain tends to slip and slide, getting out of square. That's the price of great drape! Instead of cutting on the fold and risking misalignment, I redraw the pattern into one piece that can be totally secured on the grain.

Beautiful, soft, and drapy, but also heavy and shifty

This is a gorgeous fabric - soft to the touch and drapey. I would not call it a beginner fabric, as I found cutting it out without shifting tricky (with a rotary), and even though I stay stiched and was careful handling my pieces, they grew. I made a long dress, which was not a good choice for this fabric, becuase of the heaviness and the growth factors. I never did get a good looking, even hem. I would use this fabric again for a flowy top.
